Hope you're feeling better, Tugba. I blocked Safari on my phone, I don't think it's possible to delete it. It just won't open up now. If it's important, I'll remember to check whatever I want once I'm on a computer. If I forget, it wasn't important to begin with.

I got rid of Safari on my phone for this exact reason. I love not being able to check something at the blink of a thought. It's so freeing to just wonder.

Ingrid, I know I’m super late in responding, but I got COVID and was really sick. Thank you for taking the time to read my work. Wow, that’s where I want to get to I think haha So you don’t use Safari at all on your phone, or did you just remove it from your home screen? And you try and remember the things you wanted to check and look them it up at home? I would love to hear more about it 🥰

Yesss! Really enjoyed this piece cause I can relate so much. I completely agree. Our brain needs that effort, that training, to stay healthy. I feel like AI slowly takes that away from us. It’s unnatural to have every answer available instantly. You’re absolutely right.

I'm currently going through a phase where I feel the need to redefine my relationship with AI. Even though I don't use it for my creative work, at my job we're constantly pressured to use AI. I might even write about this experience, since I work in tech and things are really out of control right now.

Thank you for reading my work, and sorry for the late response. I got COVID and was really sick. Have a wonderful start to your week 🫶🏻

I love the saying in the end and the things you do as a counter-action.

The more time away from the phone the more we remember how being present really felt! And there's a magic that happens when a few hours pass without having a phone to look at all the time.

But also, you personally, one thing i always remember about you, was your child-like curiousity about things you see around you, coz it made you pay attention to things most people would barely notice, and that's a beautiful gift! :)

Awww, thank you, babe. I'm finally getting around to responding! You’ll laugh, but I got a Ksafe, and some days I just lock my phone in there—it’s the best feeling haha It's also crazy how much you can do in a day like your hobbies when your phone isn't constantly distracting you.

Thank you so much for reading 🫶🏻

This made me think of the hidden beauty in forgetting. I spent years taking care of my grandma during her journey with dementia. While the weight of memory loss was often unbearable, it was sometimes a blessing. It made possible the birth of a new reality on the cusp of each moment. I wonder if forgetting is not merely a "failure" of our brain, but a strategic "wild card" adaptation intended to keep us from the danger of becoming too rigid ;)

Thank you for your apt reflections Tuğba!

It fills me with rage and sadness when I’m out socialising with friends and the conversation starts to descend into beautiful, unhinged madness based on zero actual fact and only weird feelings and then some prick pulls out a phone and says ‘I’ll Google it real quick’.

No! I want to hear Amy and Sarah absolutely lose their highly educated, normally logical minds battling it out over why Dachshunds are the shape they are. I want the weird. I want the mental.

Thank you! I got COVID and was pretty sick, so I’m only now getting around to responding. Ufff, I know exactly what you mean. It completely throws me off and even worse, people often want to Google something quickly, but then totally get distracted with their msges while I’m waiting to continue the conversation. This happened to me the other day and it was so awkward, but honestly, I don’t know how to handle these situations. Should we say something? What do you do?

Thank you so much for reading, Barbs. I’m super late in responding, but I had Covid and was pretty sick.

The video is very funny but also a very scary because 😭 that is where the future seems to be heading. I’m trying to set my boundaries with AI at the moment, but in my tech job, we are pushed so much to use AI every day. It is crazy!!

Aww I hope you're feeling better. At work we can't wrangle AI because of all the personal information in our system, and historically all the tech bros didn't enter healthcare so we're far behind...
