I think finding meaning, often in the meaningless and mundane, often backwards looking is different from finding a purpose, often future looking. Cos then you need to fulfill that purpose, a recipe for disappointment. Finding meaning and self-worth without any achievements whatsoever without purpose, in the sheer joy of the extravagance of existence, is a good place to be.

Funny enough, when I wrote this post, I looked into the difference between finding purpose and finding meaning, since we often use them interchangeably in everyday conversation. But in the end, I think it all comes down to exactly what you wrote—“the joy of existence.”
